Dry Spell A Big Relief
A Chance to Dry Out
It's been a rather soggy fall so far with most of September and October feeling quite tropical.
Granted, we've been in an El Nino pattern the last couple months, which does typically means we see a wetter fall and winter, but I don't think anyone expected to get this waterlogged. In many spot across the viewing area, the rain surplus has hit 25 inches for the year!
Even before the fall season, the water started piling up. In almost every month of 2009, we've seen rain totals above average. The only months we didn't observe a surplus were April and June. June has been our driest month of 2009 so far with only 1.90" of rain
Our wettest month was September with 13.67" of rain. September, by the way, is normally our second driest month with a monthly average of 3.44".
The Week Ahead
The dry weather couldn't come at a better time. The good news is we don't expect to see any rain until early next week. Until then, the only thing to talk about really is a weak disturbance passing through today, which could produce a few clouds, and that's about it.
One impact we'll will see from the system today is a fresh shot of cool, dry air. Our temperatures will be a bit cooler tomorrow with highs only in the middle 60s. Tomorrow night will likely be the coldest night this week with lows dropping into the upper 30s.
We'll slowly warm up for the rest of the week and into the weekend. We'll continue watching for the possibility of rain by Monday.
