Columbus Schools will offer voluntary H1N1 vaccinations to students this week.
Schools Superintendent Dr. Del Phillips says parents must sign and have their child return the proper paperwork in order for them to receive the shot.
The vaccinations will be offered to students at Columbus High, Lee, Hunt, and Franklin on Wednesday. Other schools will be given the opportunity at a later date.
The state department of health is overseeing the process and the MUW School of Nursing will give the shots.
Parents of elementary students are encouraged to be there while their child receives the vaccination.
Again, this is voluntary and the paperwork and information will be sent home with students this week.
Phillips says the school system is only providing the facilities for the vaccinations, not administering the shots.
